Taiwan’s health officials have lifted a ban on heated tobacco, conditionally approving 14 heated tobacco products (HTPs) from two companies. However, stricter regulations regarding the marketing of these products will be implemented.
The Health Promotion Administration (HPA) of the Ministry of Health and Welfare conditionally approved the 14 applications from two heated tobacco companies and said sales and marketing channels for HTPs that have undergone conditional review will remain restricted. It said companies must not mislead consumers into believing that HTPs are harmless or have minimal health risks. The Ministry of Health and Welfare also said stricter regulations will be implemented regarding the marketing of HTPs
